Clothing to Buy for your Newborn and Toddlers in Summer

The summer months are fun and in summer you are more likely to spend a lot of time outdoors with your kids for activities and family fun. Finding the perfect Tiny Knot Headbands for your toddler shouldn’t be hard to find as Baby Bling Bows has a huge collection. You would, however, need to get other clothing items appropriate for summer to go with the headbands. You would also need to make sure your kids are dressed right for the temperature, wearing sunscreen, as well as a bunch of other little things to take note of when going out with kids. Let’s discuss some summer basics for kids below:

Tiny Knot Headbands

Tiny knot headbands are a great accessory for your little one in the summer. They add a little spice to any outfit and they help to hold the little fairs away from a baby or toddlers face. You can get them in different bright colors and print designs. Topknot headbands are not the only types of headbands out there, you can also get skinny headbands, bows etc.

One-piece outfits

Even as an adult, I find so much joy in wearing one-piece outfits. They take a lot of the stress of deciding what to wear or putting together an outfit. This is also a great advantage when dressing up babies and toddlers. one -piece outfits are convenient and are also comfortable to wear.

T-shirts

T-shirts are great for both boys and girls. Get them in light cotton materials or linen or jersey fabric as these options are breathable and so great for the hot summer months. For newborns, you can just wear them the t-shirts and nothing else but a diaper underneath so they can run around freely in the house during the hot summer hot days.

Leggings or pull-on pants

Leggings are very versatile and so they come in handy all year round. In the winter they can be worn underneath dresses and skirts. In the summer months, they are great to pair with t-shirts or caissons. Leggings have long stretchy waistbands that that fit easily over a baby’s waist and belly. They can expand as the baby grows and they are super comfortable.

Sleeping Clothes

This includes pajamas, nightgowns, and onesies. Sleepwear should be comfortable and easy to take off and they should also be made out of breathable fabric. Try to avoid sleepwear that is complicated to get off and on. When you are preparing a baby or toddler for bed, the last thing you need is to be worrying about how to get in on. And when you have to change a baby at night when you are probably tired and sleepy you will be grateful for the simple snaps that are easy to snap on and off.

Socks

Even if the summer months are hot, you would still need to get socks for babies and toddlers. Summer nights tend to get colder and so socks to come in handy. In addition, depending on the footwear they wear, they would need socks to wear inside so their feet do not get smelly.

Keeping Babies and Toddlers Safe in the Summer

Sun Protection

Protecting kids from the sun is crucial especially during the summer months when the sun is hottest and you are spending more time outdoors. When you go for family activities like going to the pool, the park, or the beach, make sure they put on a sufficient amount of sunscreen and also carry a bottle to re-apply throughout the day. Parents are advised to reapply sunscreen on their kids every 2-3 hours. If you are at the pool or at the beach, re-apply whenever they go in the water and come out. When applying to make sure you apply it evenly all around the baby and kid, don’t forget the ears, fingers, and feet. Do not forget to also apply sunscreen when you are at home and your kids are playing in the backyard. Keep a bottle of sunscreen handy in different areas around the house and by the sink in the bathroom so it can be reapplied after handwashing.

Moisturizing

Speaking of hand washing, you should also keep a bottle of lotion at every sink in the house. With summer comes dry skin so you need to keep your baby and toddler’s skin moisturized throughout the day. Re-apply the lotion after the go swimming too and whenever they wash their hands. This will lock in moisture in the skin and keep it hearty and healthy.

Stay Hydrated

Both you are your kids need to stay hydrated throughout the day, especially in the summer. In the summer heat, the body loses water rapidly and you need to remind your kids to drink water every hour if possible. Same goes for the baby, make sure you give them water at regular intervals. If you have toddlers, get a water bottle for everyone so you can track how much water each of them is drinking. You also need to hydrate yourself as well. Take a water bottle for yourself and drink when your kids are drinking.

Pack Wipes

Wipes come in handy in a plethora of situations. When you’re outdoors – say at a pack, for example, your little one would want or explore the environment. This is a great way for kids to learn but it also means they will be touching a lot of things, the sand, the grass, objects, railing etc. Wiping their hands down every now and then with a hand sanitizer will help get rid of all the germs.

Pack Extra Clothes

You never know when you would need a change of clothes and with babies and toddlers, you almost always do. Pack an extra set of clothes for each kid. When you are going out for a lot of activities it’s best to be prepared. When packing extra clothes, it is best to pack separated as they are easy to change in public. And if your little one stains a top you can just change the top without having to worry about changing the whole outfit.
